In 1954 Henry Ruderman opened Brooklyn Plumbing Supply. In the beginning, all of the material was kept in milk crates and heavy iron pipe in the basement. Henry prided himself on unparalleled customer service. It was not uncommon for him to spend a half hour explaining how a washer would fit into a faucet, and then give the washer to the customer at no charge.
In the late 1960’s Henry’s sons Mickey and Arnie entered into the business. Over the next 30 years they grew the business by expanding into new product lines, entering into new markets and solidifying Brooklyn Plumbing Supply’s reputation as a consumer and trade friendly supply house. In 1981, after observing the emergence of the luxury home market, Brooklyn Plumbing Supply expanded into the decorative bathroom and kitchen industry and opened a new showroom to compliment the supply house.
In 1999 Mickey and Arnie’s sons, Bryan and Josh came into the business to continue the family tradition into its third generation. It is with the same principals that Henry had started Brooklyn Plumbing Supply with almost 50 years earlier that his grandsons continue to operate under. In the past 10 years, Brooklyn Plumbing Supply has expanded into the gas & oil boiler control market and is continually updating the showrooms to reflect current industry trends. The recent addition of an integrated computer system has improved our ability to provide superior customer service and has Brooklyn Plumbing Supply poised to thrive into the years ahead.
